19 June 2027 · Quinta da Ribeira
June & Tomás
We are getting married in a garden outside Lisbon, and we would love you to be there.

Until the day
Long enough to book a flight, short enough that we are already nervous.
We are married!
Saturday 19 June
The afternoon and the evening
Everything happens in one place, so once you arrive you can put your car keys away until Sunday.
Saturday 19 June 2027
Quinta da Ribeira, Colares
15:30
Arrive at the quinta
Lemonade and cold water in the walled garden while everyone finds their way in.
16:00
The ceremony under the oak
Led by Inês, Tomás's sister
About forty minutes, outdoors, in English and Portuguese. There is shade and there are chairs.
16:45
Drinks on the lawn
Vinho verde, petiscos and a lot of hugging. The photographer will find you.
18:30
Dinner at the long tables
A long Portuguese dinner under the trees, cooked by the quinta's own kitchen. Tell us what you cannot eat.
21:30
Speeches and cake
Short ones, we promise. Then June's grandmother's orange cake.
22:00
Dancing in the barn
A band until midnight, then records until one. Taxis are booked for 00:30 and 01:15.
The place
Quinta da Ribeira
An old farmhouse between the hills of Sintra and the sea, which has belonged to the same family since 1870.

The walled garden, where we meet first
The oak we marry under
The tables, before anyone sits down
The barn, for dancing and for rain
Before you ask
Questions we keep being asked
What should I wear?
Summer garden smart: light suits, dresses, linen. The ceremony is on grass, so leave the stilettos at home, and bring a layer for the evening, when the air from the sea turns cool.
Can we bring the children?
Yes, of course. There will be a quiet room in the farmhouse and a babysitter from 20:00 for the little ones. Tell us their names and ages when you answer.
What would you like as a gift?
Your company, honestly, especially if you are flying in. If you would like to give something, there will be a box for cards towards our first trip together as a married couple.
How do we get there?
Fly to Lisbon. The quinta is 35 minutes by car from the airport, and we are running a coach from Sintra station at 15:00 and back at 00:30 and 01:15. The weekend page has the details.
Where should we stay?
Sintra has plenty of small guesthouses, and we have held rooms at Casa do Largo until 1 April under the name Ribeiro Matos. If you prefer the city, Lisbon is forty minutes away by train.
What if it rains?
Mid-June near Lisbon is usually warm and dry, around 25 degrees in the afternoon. If it does rain, the ceremony moves into the barn and nothing else changes.
Will you be there?
Please answer by 1 May 2027, so we can tell the kitchen how many we are and what everyone eats.
