If you arrive on Friday, come and find us from 19:00 at Taberna da Vila in Sintra for a glass and a plate of something. No need to tell us, just turn up.
Saturday 19 June

The slow day after

Grilled sardines, salads and what is left of the cake, back at the long tables. Come as you are.

Forty minutes down the valley to Praia Grande, for anyone who wants to see the Atlantic.

Goodbyes
A coach back to Sintra station leaves at 17:15, in time for the trains to Lisbon.
Getting there
From the airport to the oak
Fly to Lisbon
Lisbon airport has direct flights from most of Europe and from Boston, New York and São Paulo. Book early: June is busy.
Take the train to Sintra
From Rossio station in the centre of Lisbon, a train leaves every twenty minutes and takes forty. A ticket costs €2.45.
Catch our coach
On Saturday at 15:00 a coach leaves from the front of Sintra station and brings everyone to the quinta, and it takes you back at night.
Or drive
From the airport take the A16 towards Sintra, then follow the signs for Colares. There is parking in the olive grove; somebody in a straw hat will wave you in.
The place
Where Quinta da Ribeira is
The quinta sits in the valley below Colares, between Sintra and the sea. Leave Colares on the road to Praia das Maçãs and turn left after the stone bridge, at the sign for Quinta da Ribeira. The gate is 600 metres up the lane, on the right. Phones lose signal in the valley, so keep these directions to hand.
